These modern coasters are crocheted with cotton cording to give them a natural look. This makes them super absorbent and useful on the coffee table. A perfect beginner’s pattern, crochet a handful of coasters for yourself or as a gift to a friend.

 

Materials

Yarn:  Worsted Weight (#4) ~ 1 color – cotton cording

Crochet Hook – Size H

Yarn Required:   13 yards

Abbreviations:

ch – chain

st – stitches

sl st – slip stitch

sc – single crochet

 

Notes:

To increase or decrease the size of the coaster, increase or decrease total number rounds.

 

Gauge: 4 sc = 1”, 4 rows of sc = 1”

Directions

Rnd 1: Work a Magic Ring, inside Ring ch 1, work 6 sc inside ring. Sl st to 1st sc. (6 sc)

Rnd 2: Ch 1, work 2 sc in each sc, sl st to 1st sc. (12 sc)

Rnd 3: Ch 1, 2 sc in 1st sc, sc in following sc, *2 sc in next sc, sc in following sc*, repeat *-* around to end of round, sl st to 1st sc. (18 sc)

Rnd 4: Ch 1, 2 sc in 1st sc, sc in next 2 sc, *2 sc in next sc,  sc in next 2 sc*, repeat *-* around to end of round, sl st to 1st sc. (24 sc)

Rnd 5: Ch 1, 2 sc in 1st sc, sc in next 3 sc, *2 sc in next sc,  sc in next 3 sc*, repeat *-* around to end of round, sl st to 1st sc. (30sc)

Rnd 6: Ch 1, 2 sc in 1st sc, sc in next 4 sc, *2 sc in next sc,  sc in next 4 sc*, repeat *-* around to end of round, sl st to 1st sc. (36sc)

Rnd 7: Ch 1, 2 sc in 1st sc, sc in next 5 sc, *2 sc in next sc,  sc in next 5 sc*, repeat *-* around to end of round, sl st to 1st sc. (42sc)

Fasten off and weave in end.
